Clarissa Tabosa

Rotating Chair in Migration and Asylum Studies

Clarissa Tabosa received her PhD from Comenius University in Bratislava in 2019. She is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of European Studies and International Relations at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava. She also serves as a lecturer at the Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts (BISLA). In addition to her academic roles, she is the country expert for Slovakia at the Global Citizenship Observatory (GLOBALCIT), an online platform dedicated to the analysis of citizenship laws worldwide.

Tabosa has held a visiting researcher position at the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies (CCIS) at the University of California, San Diego. As an early-career researcher, she has already accumulated significant experience working on prominent research projects both within and outside academia. She has contributed as a consultant to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Slovakia, where she served as a research expert on migration integration research design and methodology. Additionally, she collaborated with the Implementation Agency of the Slovak Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, and Family, delivering a comprehensive study on integration policies as part of the “Recovery Plan for Europe.” She has been actively involved in numerous national, European, and transatlantic research projects.

Her research focuses on securitization theory, migration policies, migrant integration, and global power shifts in international relations. With a deep understanding of these areas, Tabosa has conducted extensive research and published on these topics.
